David has practiced psychotherapy for mental health and substance abuse for the past seven years. He holds a master’s degree in health and human development with a specialization in mental health counseling, and he is licensed as a professional counselor with mental health services provider designation from the Tennessee Department of Health Related Boards. He is nationally board certified as a counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). David has also been licensed as an addiction counselor in the state of Montana. He has also undergone additional training in gambling problems, chemical dependency\mental health assessment, EMDR, and interventions.
David’s approach can best be described as client-centered and integrative. This approach allows for use of various different techniques tailored to suit the needs of any issues that persons come to therapy wishing to address. David practices from a holistic perspective which emphasizes the importance of mind, body, and spirit in personal health and well being. David’s treatment often utilizes some practices of eastern cultures such as meditation, and his technique draws heavily on cultivating mindfulness in daily life. David’s practice is inclusive of all persons, and he does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, or sexual orientation. David honors the codes of ethics of the American Counseling Association, the National Board of Certified Counselors, and the Tennessee Board of Health.
